Here’s a bit of nostalgia from 1948. A cartoon from Harding College (no relation) extolling the virtues of capitalism. It’s a bit corny and jingoistic, but it’s fun and worth watching. 1948 was the beginning of the Cold War and the feeling at the time was “us vs. them.” The USSR was a real threat, the UK had gone socialist, and Stalin was imposing his power into the Warsaw Bloc countries. Also GDP and the stock market was in a big slump. The Dow didn’t recover to its pre-Depression (1929) high until 1955.

Created in 1948 to dispel the notion that socialism (communism) was the emerging modernity’s panacea to prosperity and equality, it has uncanny relevance today. They shame of it all is that the contemporary comparison is not to a foreign power or movement, but to our own government! (Or at least those currently running it.)
