This Harvard commencement speech by J.K. Rowling is terrific. This has nothing to do with economics per se. But it is one of the few speeches I have heard in this context when someone says something meaningful. It’s all about failure. As one of my friends says, ‘Fail forward!” You will enjoy this. If you don’t, check your pulse.

Now, I don’t know if you’re a Harry Potter fan, or a J.K.Rowling fan or not; doesn’t matter. She talks about working at Amnesty International, and what it taught her. The speech is wonderful, heartfelt and honest and heartbreaking as well as heartwarming. I don’t necessarily agree that it’s “all about failure,” though Rowling makes that important point in the speech. You can decide for yourself, but it’s a really great speech, and it’s uplifting, too. She seems like one great lady to me. [...]
