Munger’s choice of words leaves much to be desired. I wonder if a gold or silver miner would meat his definition of a “production business.” I would dare say no, since one year of the world’s entire production could be hauled away in a single boxcar, with enough room for either cattle or people.

Civilized people guard themselves against oppression. Civilized people are presumed to be capable of governing themselves. Civilized people respect the organic institutions of civilization. The concept of limited, constitutionally defined government checked and balanced between local, state and federal was developed and put in place by highly civilized people who understood human nature. The jury system is a check on oppression. A system of redeemable currency serves the same purpose. Mr Munger’s faith in the newly developed system of elite, top-down, central planning is naive, arrogant.

I agree with Tom and jeff completely. I can’t tell you how very disappointed I am in both Charlie Munger and Warren Buffet for their arrogant and supercilious left leaning actions, remarks and hypocrisy….all while practicing their new brand of national socialism.
Well, at least, Mr Munger, secretary is paying more in taxes!
