I’ve become a fan of CNN’s “The Next List” with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. It’s on Sundays at 2:00 pm ET. Each week they feature someone who is somehow changing the world, or will change the world, in a positive way. This week it was Dale Dougherty who started Maker Faire, a kind of science fair, tinkerer’s festival, and Burning Man all rolled up into one big event. They are occurring all over the country and are attended by thousands. The idea is to get people to make things, innovative and sometimes useful things. It is aimed at students to get them used to the idea that they can make cool stuff and learn about science at the same time. But anyone with a garage shop idea attends, no matter how preposterous. The episode is not online yet, but check their web site to see it when it’s posted.
A couple weeks ago they had a young science prodigy named Taylor Wilson, who will knock you to the floor when you see who and what he is (video below). People like Taylor have the ability to change the world. For example, Taylor is more interested in applied science rather than theoretical science.
The show is uplifting and inspiring. Be proud of the fact that we have a country that still rewards accomplishment in the market place. It is capitalism that will provide the tools for people like Dale and Taylor to make our lives better. Watch the show.

That’s pretty positive for a change
We’ve been railing against the machine of confiscation so long, it’s useful to be reminded what we’re fighting for. This is it.
