It Ain’t Necessarily So

This snarky postcard from Someecards has the right touch …

… but, this is not true. If they can force you to buy health insurance, they can prevent you from smoking (penalty=tax), they can limit your intake of sugared drinks, they already prohibit your use of recreational drugs, and they can nag you into eating right with calorie stickers on food. But … when the cost of Obamacare rises, as it will, we can expect two things. One is rationing of health care as demand overwhelms supply. The other will be intrusive attempts by the government, under the justification that they need to reduce costs, to force us to become healthier. Thus they will tax you to eat healthier food (broccoli), stop smoking, and exercise more. We already see this in the “public service” ads that hector us to stop being slobs. “You will comply. Resistance is futile.” Otherwise you will be penalized taxed.
